Touch Assignment

Brittany Farley- Touch Assignment

Speaking Of Touch

"Language is steeped in metaphors of touch. We call our emotions feelings, and we care most deeply when something "touches" us."
-Diane Ackerman

Statement: There are so many different forms of pain. Suffering or discomfort is in the definition of pain but I truly believe there is so much more to the word "pain". The amount of words that describe pain are endless.

I chose to create a silhouette of a girls head because women are the profound person in a relationship. The reason behind filling it with meaningful words is because the words in the image are so important in the daily life of any human. Each of those words in there are so impacting you, me and the person sitting next to you. Starting from the top of her head it is "pain" through to the bottom  is "refreshed". These are words that describe when you are going through the sense of touch through pain.

Kissing

"Kissing, we share one breath, open the sealed fortress of our body to our lover. We shelter under a warm net of kisses. .... When I was in high school in the early sixties, nice girls didn't go all the way-most of us wouldn't have known how to. But man, could we kiss!"
-Diane Ackerman

Statement: There are so many forms of self love. Kissing is usually the ultimate first of the start of love. Diane Ackerman does an incredible job of putting our thoughts into meaning. When I first read this I thought of the words "Love yourself first".

I chose to create something in illustrator because this is something that you can personalize to create your own. This file above has written "Love yourself first" because you truly can't love another until you learn to love and appreciate yourself first.  Kissing: touch with the lips asa sign of love, sexual desire, reverence, or greeting.  You have to understand love within before giving off and this is something that everyone has to experience.
